My name is karin
Over fifteen years ago, our family relocated from South Africa, prompted by my husband’s professional commitments. This journey took us across various countries and continents, where exposure to diverse cultures really influenced my appreciation for thoughtful design, natural materials, and products with clear purpose.
During our time in Asia, I was introduced to diatomite through a gift—coasters that absorbed moisture instantly and effortlessly.
Our subsequent posting in Southeast Asia, with its hot and humid climate, provided the ideal environment to test the absorbent qualities of diatomite over time, leading me to expand the testing phase with additional and bigger slabs.
After witnessing impressive results firsthand, and drawing on my horticultural background and passion for sustainable, natural materials, it became clear that building a product range around this remarkable material was the right decision.
Today, Hydro Hold offers refined slabs that effectively manage moisture in kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces, providing a discreet, functional solution with timeless elegance.
