FAQ's

naturally absorbent stone slabs for everyday living

What people are asking

What is diatomite?

A natural stone formed from fossilised algae, known for its exceptional moisture-absorbing properties.

What are diatomite slabs used for?

To absorb condensation and water around cold glasses & drinks, ice buckets, water jugs, sinks, bathrooms, pet bowls, and dish-drying areas.

How fast does it absorb water?

Almost instantly. Moisture is drawn into microscopic pores and evaporates naturally.

Does it stay wet or smell?

No. The slab air-dries on its own and does not retain odours when used correctly.

How do I clean it?

Rinse with water and let it air-dry. If stained, use a soft bristled brush and wash it with a solution of water and white vinegar. In extreme cases, light sanding restores absorbency if needed. Do not use any detergents since it will be absorbed.

Is it fragile?

It is a stone product — durable for everyday use, but may crack if dropped.

Is it safe for kitchens and pets?

Yes. Suitable for food areas and pet water bowls when used as intended.

Can the slabs be used as a cutting board?

No. Our slabs are designed for absorbing moisture and managing condensation — not for chopping or cutting. Using knives on the surface can cause scratches and permanent damage.

Does it work in humid climates?

Yes. Drying time may be slightly longer, but absorption remains effective.

Are your slabs natural?

Yes. Made from pure diatomite and plant pulp/recycled paper.

Do you offer custom branding?

Yes. Branding is available for corporate and hospitality orders.
